Gevalia Coffee, Cream Of The Coffee Crop

In 1853, Sweden, Victor Theodor Engwall founded a company he dedicated to scouring the world for coffee varieties that had yet to be discovered. He then planned to market these new types of coffee to Europeans who were all crazy for coffee at that time.

Around the early 19th century, coffee had become a very popular drink in Sweden. Engwall was further encouraged to bring to his countrymen the most excellent coffees the world had to offer. He also dabbled in ways of producing the perfect cup of coffee. He would experiment with a combination of different coffee beans, roasting and grinding the beans in different ways.

The Royal Coffee Maker

King Gustav of Sweden soon heard of this man who made heavenly coffee and soon Engwall and his company, Gevalia coffee was appointed coffee purveyor to the Royal family and the Royal Court of Sweden. Gevalia Coffee is the most loved coffee of Sweden and Swedish royalty have long given their seal of approval for this coffee.

In 1971, the Gevalia Coffee Company was sold to Kraft Foods. It has become a mainstream coffee brand in Europe and in the United States; it is usually sold with free coffee makers via mail order. These coffee makers are incentives for trying out the different Gevalia coffee available.

Varieties Of Gevalia Coffee

Gevalia Coffee brand has many varieties and blends available for every taste and preference. This was the vision of the founder of Gevalia Coffee, to bring to the people of the world the different coffee blends and variants. Among these are premium roasts and blends, which include traditional roast, light roast, dark roast, espresso roast, French roast, signature blend and breakfast blend. Select variety includes Antigua, Colombia, Costa Rica Peaberry, Jamaica Blue Mountain, Kenya, Kona, Mocca Java and Peruvian organic coffee.

Gevalia coffee also includes a European Coffeehouse Collection, which has Antico Caffé Greco (Rome), Café de Oriente (Spain), Café Le Procope (Paris) and Café Sperl (Vienna). These coffee blends are all inspired by the cities or countries’ coffeehouses. It brings to the people a taste of the coffee served in the different countries that these coffee blends represent.

They also have several flavored blends available, like, Amaretto, Chocolate Raspberry, Cinnamon, French Vanilla, Hazelnut, Irish Crème (without alcohol), Mocha and Vanilla Nut. The Gevalia Coffee Company also caters to tea drinkers. They have an assortment of teas, which are as numerous as the coffees that they stock.
